NAV Cairo Tour

06 Nights / 07 Days

Day 1:

Arrive to Cairo airport. Meet & assist and transfer to hotel.

Day 2:

Full day tour to the great pyramids of Giza,  sphinx, bazzars & carpet factory, The pyramids of Giza, are perhaps the only true rival to the Great Sphinx, when one thinks about Ancient Egypt and it's architecture. The valley of Giza with it's wonderful monuments, is truly a marvel of architectural prowess. The three Pyramids consist of The Great Pyramid of Khufu, The Pyramid of Kafhre and The Pyramid of Menkaura. Each Pyramid is a tomb to a different King of Egypt.

All three pyramids were built during the Third and Fourth Dynasty, and were monumental undertakings of the king and the kings sons. The Pyramid of Khufu has a base which covers roughly a nine acre area (roughly 392,040 square feet). The pyramid of Menkaura, unlike the other pyramids, had one tier of it's base covered in granite. The pyramid of Khafre, had a two tier base encased in granite.

Unfortunately like many of the great Kings of the Old Kingdom of Egypt, the Pyramid of Menkaura, Khufu, and Kafhre were not finished in the time of the end of the Kings reign. In the case of Menkaura, the king died before it's construction was completed. The monuments of Giza and the entire Giza valley stand as a marvelous reminder of the skill executed in the creation of the pyramids, and are truly fabulous to see.

Day 3:

Full day tour to the Egyptian museum & Citadel of Salah Aladdin and khan Alkhalili bazzars.

The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum, in Cairo, Egypt, is home to the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world . it has 136,000 items on display, with many more hundreds of thousands in its basement storerooms .

The museum is an outgrowth of the Egyptian Antiquities Service, established by the Egyptian government in 1835, in an attempt to limit the looting of antiquities from sites, and protect artifacts. Its Boulaq museum opened in 1858 with a collection assembled by Auguste Mariette , the French archaeologist retained by Isma"I Pasha . After residing in an annex of the palace of Isma"I Pasha in Giza from 1880, the museum moved to its present location, aneoclassical structure on Tahrir Square in Cairo's city centre, in 1900 under Gaston Maspero.

The highlight of the collection is often considered to be the tomb artifacts of the pharaoh Tutankhamun, whose almost intact tomb Howard Carter found in the Valley of the Kings in 1922.

The museum's Royal Mummy Room, containing 27 royal mummies from pharaonic times,. It was reopened , with a slightly curtailed display of New Kingdom kings and queens , in 1985.

Day 4:

Free at leisure, or optional tours to Alexandria. (Full day with lunch)

The great library of Alexandria that contains more than 500,000 volumes..

Day 5:

Free at leisure, or optional tours to the Pharonice Village (half day).

The Pharaonic Village began, like so many other great wonders of our world, with a dream. Dr. Hassan Ragab, already famous for his rediscovery of the ancient techniques for making papyrus, had begun to ponder the possibility of a living museum with real people, actors in costume and in a realistic locale, taking the place of static exhibits.

It was after a visit to Disney World's EPCOT Center in Orlando, Florida, that his idea took root. Dr. Ragab believed EPCOT "was too computerized" and there was nothing human about it. He began to think, "Dare I have real, live people in my village, dressed in the manner of three or four thousand years ago?"

The result is The Pharaonic Village, a living museum of ancient Egyptian life where visitors can sail on a network of canals and view the remarkably realistic recreation of the past.
